And Your Families at the This Saturday- May 17, 2003 at 1:30 PM |
Opening statements to kick off the 2003 Negotiations won’t be given until this Tuesday, May 20th but GE hasn’t been shy about publicizing their goals in advance. By their accounts, GE wants workers to share a 70-30 percent split in the medical co-pays, they want to hold the purse strings tight when it comes to wages and COLAs, they want to keep Pension tables and formulas low, freeze existing retirees’ pensions and keep Special Early Retirements at a minimum. And they want to lengthen the term of the Contract to prevent us from chipping away at them for an even longer period.
SHOW GE WHAT YOU THINK OF THEIR WISH LIST
ATTEND THE ERIE RALLY
The UE Bargaining Committee, armed with your Bargaining Goals and a tremendous amount of research documentation is prepared to aggressively push the Bargaining Goals that were developed from membership input and based on reasonable expectations for the profits we create and our real needs. But achieving those Bargaining Goals will take the same commitment from the Membership that we saw in 1997 and 2000 when we packed the Hammermill Center to the rafters.
YOUR STEWARD ATTENDED A SPECIAL MEETING TODAY,
at the request of the Local 506 and 618 Executive Boards, to prepare them, to prepare you for a struggle with GE to win a fair Contract - A struggle that we will hopefully win by the resolve and show of unity we exhibit now, rather than a showdown when the Contract expires on June 15th.
A short Solidarity March and Memorial Service for Kjeston Michelle Rogers (IUE Local 761) will be held directly after the Rally followed by food and refreshments served in Perry Square. For a Fair Contract and Benefit Package - Please Attend
